Summer leaf graphic leaf graphicleaf graphic

We spend a lot of time outside each day, going to and from the buildings where we work, visiting the privy and playing with the cats. Each season has its own feeling. Summer is a more shadowy time under the trees with little sunlight reaching the ground. There are storms and dry spells each occasioning their own kinds of activity.

A number of mushrooms of all varieties appear in the yard and under the buildings during summer. They seem to sprout up a day or so after a rain.

This mushroom has been nibbled on the side by some creature.

This is another mushroom which pops up majestically in protected areas.

The only mushrooms that we have eaten have been the Morels which appear in early spring.

Spider webs of all varieties appear throughout the woods, but are only seen at special times, such as after a heavy dew. The webs are found amongst the leaves on the ground and in the tree tops overhead.

The Seasons
We’ve collected some photographs to show the four seasons in our woods.

Socks’ Frog Pond
Some photos taken during the late winter.

The Great Morel Hunt
tells about Molly's and George's hunt for the Great Morel Forest, a semi-mythical place briefly seen in Spring 2000. We attempt to find it again.
