Winter leaf graphic leaf graphicleaf graphic

After the luxuriance of foliage during spring, summer and fall, in winter we get to see the bones of the woods.

The sun is lower in the sky and the days are shorter.

Snowfall changes the color and texture of the woods and allows us to see signs of animal activity we aren't able to normally see.

The sturdy Christmas Fern remains green in the snow. Often these ferns still show green into the new year.

The Seasons
We’ve collected some photographs to show the four seasons in our woods.

Socks’ Frog Pond
Some photos taken during the late winter.

The Great Morel Hunt
tells about Molly's and George's hunt for the Great Morel Forest, a semi-mythical place briefly seen in Spring 2000. We attempt to find it again.
