Well drilled in 1946
Producing formation(s): Weir
Geographic location: latitude 38.065744, longitude -81.410608
This older well is on Dry Branch, west of Kelly's Creek Road in northern Kanawha County.
The well is operated by a small operator we've not come across before. It is located within a paddock and is surrounded by fencing.
The site was clean and well-vegetated with a gravel road access. We did not enter the fenced area surrounding the well and could not see an API number or tag as is required.
The tank had a secondary containment dike but it was partially filled with water and we did not see a rainwater drain.
The production equipment was different than we've seen elsewhere and included a small electric compressor.

This is a view of the production equipment with the wellhead in the foreground.

The small electric compressor was running when we visited the site.

This photo was taken looking down at the wellhead. Molly is standing at the fence that surrounds the well.

The 100 barrel tank stands on a slope. The secondary containment is a moat on the lower edges of the slope, where, if the tank leaked, the condensate would run.
