Well drilled in 1968, plugged in 1998
Producing formation(s): Newburg
Geographic location: latitude 38.496031, longitude -81.72018
This is a plugged well that is located on the east side of the north end of Campbell's Branch near Camp Virgil Tate.
The plugged well has a proper monument, a pipe standing at least 30 inches tall and having the well's API number. To the north of the monument, though, there is unconnected pipe and a meter. It appears that this belonged to the plugged well and should have been removed from the site during final reclamation after plugging.

This plugged well's monument is a pipe with the API number cut along the top. The pipe stands in a small thicket and wouldn't have been easy to see when the foliage was out.

Just to the north of the monument there was a pipe that looked like it was part of a pipeline, except it's disconnected.

A little further north is a cluster of pipe and equipment, again disconnected.

This is photographed from a different angle than above.

Part of the equipment was a meter, much like what we've seen on producing gas wells.
Our assumption is that the pipe and equipment was left behind after plugging the well instead of being removed as it should have been.
