Well drilled in 1944, plugged in 1944
Producing formation(s): dry hole
Geographic location: latitude 38.518056, longitude -81.753598
This well was a dry hole drilled in 1944 and has been plugged. There are two monument pipes so we wonder if two attempts were made to drill the well or if they had other problems at this location.
The well site is just below and to the south of the Long Road after 47-079-01288. Other than the monument there is no other visible sign that a well had been here.
State regulations require the monument to have an API number for the well permanently affixed to the monument. We saw what looked like a rusted bracket for a number, but no number itself. We determined the API number for this plugged well by looking at maps.

The two monuments stand side by side.

There were indications that something had been attached at one time to the bracket. This was the only sign that there had possibly been the required API number.
