The House, continuedleaf graphic

The house is a pole structure, built so that the weight of the roof and walls is supported by poles anchored in the ground. This allowed us to put in plenty of windows.

This is a view of the loft with its three windows facing north. The loft is high enough so that you feel like you are in the trees.

A railing made in Molly’s shop goes around the two open sides of the loft.

This is a view of the living area looking south west. Molly’s treadle sewing machine is currently being used as a table for stacks of books, she’s reading in the rocker along side.

Along the south wall in the living area are book shelves that run under the windows. These hold some of the books we use most often. And, more importantly, the top shelf provides a nice walk and sleep area for the cats.

This is a view of the house in Christmas 2000, taken at night. Viva is on her book cart, Daria is at the counter, and Molly is at the back.
