Well drilled in 1968, plugged in 2009
Producing formation(s): Newburg
Geographic location: latitude 38.494796, longitude -81.728187
This is a plugged well to the west of the north end of Campbell's Branch near Camp Virgil Tate.
The plugged well's monument is correct, though there is pipe and a piece of equipment that has been left behind after final reclamation. By law all equipment and debris must be removed from the site.

The plugged well's monument stands in a grassy field. A plugged well's monument has to be a section of pipe standing at least 30 inches above the ground and which has the well's API number on it. This monument fits the legal requirement.

The other legal requirement is that within 6 months after plugging a well all equipment, debris, and so forth must be removed from the site as part of final reclamation. We found this short section of pipe on the ground.

We also found these two pipes sticking up out of the ground. The pipes are about 36 inches high.

There was a hydrogen sulfide warning sign at the eastern end of the field, lying down.

There was another hydrogen sulfide warning sign still standing to the south of the well, near the entrance to 47-039-01198.
Both signs should have been removed as part of final reclamation.
