The Shack, continuedleaf graphic

The week we did most of the building of the Shack was extremely hot and it seemed to rain almost every day. We camped out nearby, near the lumber, which had to be carried to the site.

This is the east side wall of the shack going up. The posts are 12 feet high to give room for a sleeping loft.

The walls are up, the floor joists are in and we are getting ready to lay the subflooring (sheets of plywood). George is taking a brief rest.

The flooring is down and we are getting ready to put in the corner braces and rafters. We didn’t put any more framing for walls than this before putting up the wall sheathing. The wall framing for windows and insulation went up in 1991 after we moved.
