This is an old production well that was converted for use as an injection well in Wirt county. When the well was originally drilled in 1917 no cement was used behind the single string of casing left in the well. The well was drilled deeper and a minimal amount of a cement was used at the base of the new production string.

Well drilled in 1917 . Drilled deeper in 1982. Converted for injection in 1984.
Formation into which waste is injected -- Salt Sands

Major issue

  • Well is a conversion using an old well which has no cement behind the single string. There is no protection for groundwater in the well's original construction. Reworking the well added no protection for groundwater.
