The hills in spring start to take on a new color, different from the browns and grays of winter. The Maples start to bud and patches of reddish pink are found on the hillsides. Later in spring the Dogwoods and the Redbuds add their colors to the increasingly green world that emerges again. The birds start to spring in mid March. We have Carolina Wrens, Thrushes, Robins, Blue Birds and more singing in the yard and starting to find places for their nests.
Baby turtles appear in the yard in spring, this fellow was smaller than a quarter. We have to watch where we walk.

Poplar leaves emerging from their buds.

Trees start to sprout leaves and become green again.

The
Great Morel Hunt
