Summer, continued leaf graphic

The area within and surrounding the garden is especially beautiful during the summer. The garden is filled with shade tolerant plants, mostly herbs. Outside of the garden is a small grassed area with a bench and chairs to relax in. A patch of Mountain Mint, ferns and hostas fills a small slope.

This is a photo of the patch of Purple Cone Flowers and Black Eyed Susans that fill one garden bed.

This is Mountain Mint which grows wild in the fringe areas of the woods. In the spring, the plant leaves are green. In summer they start to get this white shading which is quite attractive.

Mountain Mint is loved by butterflies. They enjoy the delicate purple flowers.

Some photos taken during the late winter.

The Great Morel Hunt
tells about Molly's and George's hunt for the Great Morel Forest, a semi-mythical place briefly seen in Spring 2000. We attempt to find it again.
